Church
Windows
For centuries, the mysteries of our faith portrayed in stained glass
windows have conveyed to both simple and sophisticated people alike
the sublime majesty of Christ. They are an inspiration to prayer and
Christian living.
The windows depict the power of the central mystery of the
Resurrection and show the interconnection of other mysteries of our
faith with the Resurrection of Jesus. You will notice, therefore,
that the Risen Christ figure is in the center of the five windows
and will be able to be viewed from every area of the church.
The Mass is the celebration of the Lord's Supper, His sacrificial
death on Calvary and his Resurrection. Hence the ascending order of
the first three windows depicts the Passover meal, the Crucifixion
and the Resurrection.
The Resurrection mystery is brought to completion in the descent of
the Holy Spirit which is depicted through the tongues of fire in the
fourth ascending window.
Finally, the goal of Christian life is union with God forever in
heaven. This is depicted in the fifth ascending window in the
imagery of the city of
God described in the final chapters of the book of Revelation the
last book of the New Testament.
The Emmaus Center
The newest addition now shows our commitment toward the continuous
expansion of Risen Christ Parish. A survey taken during the past few
years indicated tremendous needs. It showed Risen Christ Parish to
be a community of individuals and mixed family units, and projected
an increase in numbers of about 5% over the next five years.
The Forum
The Forum was the assembly area for the parish community and was
completed in 1974. It provides a welcome space for gatherings of
various parish activities.
The Prayer Center
The Prayer Center is one of the highlights of the parish grounds
with the dominance of the Risen Christ's open hands. This area was
set aside as a place of prayer and reflection reminding us, through
the symbol of the outstretched arms, that the Risen Christ welcomes
all into His House.
Use of Parish Facilities
The parish facilities are used primarily for parish-related
activities and
meetings and are not scheduled for outside events. The gymnasium is
available for parish groups and organizations for recreational
activities
and for use by area Catholic schools.
