Ministry Scheduling Ministers follow this link for your schedules. Adult Enrichment Classes We sponsor a variety of adult programs in the Emmaus Center. These programs are intended for the enrichment of the adults in the parish... spiritually, physically and socially. These classes and programs provide "something for everyone." Program information is listed in the weekly bulletin. Liturgical Ministries Lectors/Readers: A lector is one who proclaims God's Word during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. It involves giving witness to God in His Sacred Word. Persons interested in this ministry are asked to call the parish office. Mass Servers: Boys and Girls, who have celebrated the sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation, are invited to assist at the Sunday Masses as servers. Those interested may call the parish office for information. Special Ministers of the Eucharist: Lay ministers are mandated by the pastor, with the approval of the archbishop, as distributors of the Holy Eucharist at Masses in Risen Christ Parish, parish nursing homes and the homebound within the parish. If interested, please call the parish office. Ushers and Greeters: Ushers and Greeters serve the parish by assisting at one of the Sunday Masses on a regular basis. Anyone interested in serving in this ministry may call the parish office for further information. Music Ministry: The choir program consists of two choirs and is available to those who wish to share in the Ministry of Music. For further information about the music program, please call the parish office. Sacramental Most important to the parish is its sacramental dimension. Our sacramental preparation processes provide both information and formation. The preparation for the reception of the sacraments is an ideal teaching moment. The parish provides learning opportunities for parents and for the recipients of the sacraments. RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults): The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is designed for adults who are seeking full initiation in the Catholic Church. This process includes adults who have never been baptized in any religious tradition and who seek full admission in the Church; adults who have been baptized in a non-Catholic faith and now seek full union in the church; and adult Catholic who have not received all the sacraments of initiation (Reconciliation and the Eucharist). The gatherings include Catholic faith instruction, support and sharing of one's personal faith journey, and participation in the liturgical prayer and social life with the community. The process is celebrated when the candidates are presented to the community during specific liturgies throughout the year. At the Easter Vigil, all are fully initiated with the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist. Infant Baptism: Parents are required to attend a baptism class prior to the baptism of the infant. Classes are held on the first Thursday and the third Sunday of each month in the Emmaus Center. Please call the parish office for further information or to schedule the baptism. Children's Initiation: The Rite of Children Initiation adapted for children is a process for families seeking baptism for children over the age of seven and for older children who have not celebrated their first communion, or first reconciliation. The process begins in the fall and baptism is celebrated at the Easter Vigil Mass. Confirmation: Preparation classes begin in the fall and the sacrament of Confirmation is usually conferred in the spring. Participants must be in the ninth grade or above. For more information call the Youth Director. Eucharist/Reconciliation: Preparation for first communion and first confession is done at home within the family. Parents are asked to come to two meetings to help with this preparation, and materials are provided at that time. Families have the option of having their child celebrate individually during a weekend liturgy or participate in a small group celebration held during the year. Spiritual Mass Intentions: Mass intentions may be requested in the parish office. Mass cards are available at the time of request. Due to the number of requests for Masses, we are required to list more than one intention per Mass. Prayer Intentions: Names of family members and friends, ill or deceased, may be placed on the weekend Prayers of the Faithful by calling the parish office. Spiritual Direction: The priests of the parish are happy to offer spiritual guidance and wisdom on an individual basis, by appointment. Hospital Visits The priests visit all parishioners who are patients in Denver area hospitals. Parishioners confined to their homes are also visited by the priests on request and by a Special Minister of the Eucharist on a weekly basis. Please call the parish office to give the names of hospital patients as well as those who would like to receive a home visit. Nursing Homes A priest, special ministers and volunteers visit seven long-term nursing homes and four assisted-living facilities weekly to care for special needs of the residents in our parish. |
