First Reconciliation and First
Eucharist Preparation
2013-2014
At Church of the Risen Christ, the preparation for
the celebration of these two sacraments is done primarily in the
home because we believe faith is first shared by families in their
everyday activities of loving and forgiving.
Parents and children (ages
7 and older) are invited to begin this preparation.
Families must be registered members of Church of the Risen
Christ and children must be enrolled in our parish elementary religious
education program (unless enrolled in a Catholic
school). It is expected
that families are attending Mass each Sunday and are involved in the
activities and life of the parish.
When parents feel their child is ready, usually second or
third grade, they are asked to attend preparation sessions in order
to help them with the privilege and responsibility of passing on the
faith to their child.
Beginning in November the religious education department will hold 2
preparation sessions for parents and children (please see the
schedule below). At
least one parent and the child must attend both sessions.
We will supply the books and materials you will use with your
child. The cost for the
materials is $50.
Please be sure to
bring a copy of your child’s
baptismal record with you
to the first session on November 10th .
Our final session in May will
include the celebration of the sacrament of Reconciliation.
First Eucharist will be celebrated on June 22, 2013, the
feast of the Body and Blood of Christ.
You must register in order to attend the sessions.
